Nottingham Bloggers' Meet

When I saw on Twitter that some people had dropped out of a Bloggers' Meet in Nottingham, and spontaneously agreed to take their place, I had no idea what to expect. It is safe to say that I was terrified about going, as I tend to get a bit nervous when in a large group of people - and that's even when I know them! It didn't help that I was running late after struggling to park in the busy town centre, so by the time I arrived I was pretty flustered.

I needn't have panicked however, as the people on my table at Zizzi were absolutely lovely, and we were soon chatting away. I was sitting with Nicole, Abby, Emma, Laura and Charlotte, all of whose blogs you should most definitely check out. They have all been blogging for quite a bit longer than me, so I felt very much like the baby-blogger, but it was great to pick up their ideas and tips. They had business cards and everything!

We ate from a set menu of three enormous courses, which for me consisted of garlic bread, lasagne and a lemon tart. It was all very delicious, although I was left so full I could have fallen asleep! There were also little boxes in each place, with a home baked biscuit from Becka, who organised the event along with Sophie. It was a really cute little touch, and one of many that gave away just how hard these girls worked to make the afternoon special. We were also treated to a little talk by a lady who runs her own cosmetics brand, Harlequin, and given the chance to have a little try of some of their hand-made products. Very kindly, we were given a little body butter sample and a full-sized lip balm to take home. The body butter is a lovely thick consistency, and I was impressed by the shower gels in Citrus Burst (smells like lemon meringue pie) and Paradise (coconut - my favourite).

When I got home, my arms aching from the weight of my goodie bag, I finally delved inside. I was genuinely shocked by how much stuff was in there, from a range of brands both new and known to me. I did not expect to get so much, and I'm excited to try it all out, particularly the Elemis facial wash, the Scare Doo (which looks a bit like a Tangle Teezer) and the Baylis and Harding Sugar Cane, Basil and Lime products. Those scents sound like a winning combination!

I'm so glad that I mustered up the courage to go to the meet, and I am definitely up for going to some more in the future. Have you ever been to a bloggers' meet?

  1. It sounds like you had a lovely time, it's amazing what the results can be sometimes when you do something that scares you! :) How did you find out about the bloggers meet btw? I would love the chance to go if there was another one in Nottingham as I also live here. Sophie Clare x

    1. A lot of things scare me, so I have to force myself to do them! It's rarely as bad as I imagine! And in this case, it was really fun, so I am so glad I did it. I didn't realise how many of us there are in the Notts area, it's nice to come across another one :) I found out on Twitter - I'd seen people talking about it for a while, but when I saw that they were trying to fill a space as someone dropped out, just bit the bullet and said I'd go! If I hear of any more I will let you know, I think there will be in the future! xx

    1. I think if I had known about it very far in advance I may have chickened out, but I didn't have very long to get worked up about it! Once I was there I was totally fine. You must go to one if you get a chance, it was a lovely experience! x

  3. Glad you had a lovely day, it's a shame we didn't really get to mingle all that much! I had the Lemon tart as well and it was so, so good! And the goody bad were very generous!

    1. I really like Zizzi. It's one of those places that always has a 2 for 1 voucher or something similar, and is a pretty safe/standard option for lunch, but is actually really good in terms of food and atmosphere, so always feels like you've been somewhere a bit nice. I wish I had managed to mingle a bit more, we'll just have to hope there's another sometime soon! x
