Manicure Monday: Spring and Sparkle!

In my mind, Spring starts on the 1st of March. Also in my mind, Spring means pastel nails. Of course, the absolute classic pastel Spring shade is Essie's infamous Mint Candy Apple, the perfect mint green. It's a well-loved shade by many a nail enthusiast, and it's so easy to see why. Plus, I love a bit of Essie, from their cute bottles to their wide brush, they're a brand I can't get enough of.

Now I know I am on a nail polish ban, but when I saw that Essie were selling Mint Candy Apple as a duo with a sparkly topcoat called Sparkle On Top, I had to investigate. And when it transpired that Sparkle on Top was a mesmerising flakie, and on 3 for 2 in Boots, I had to make it mine. I have decided that as it was free, it totally doesn't count.

Sparkle On Top is far more sparkly and iridescent than my photos would have you believe, but still looks subtle and elegant over Mint Candy Apple. Essie were definitely on to something when they decided to sell the two in a set, as they look beautiful together.

I must apologise for the greyness of these photos, they are giving away what dismal weather we were having yesterday.

Are you a Mint Candy Apple fan? And do you, like me, love a flakie?

    1. Everyone loves Mint Candy Apple. Formula-wise it isn't Essie's biggest hit, but that amazing colour more than makes up for it! x

    1. I really love a flakie topcoat, and this one applies so nicely! I have had others before that don't create half as good an effect. x

  4. Beautiful! The green on it's own is such a beautiful colour but the sparkle on top is even prettier x

  5. I just took off my Mint Candy Apple nail polish this morning! It's been on since the 1st :) I had to take it off for school, but I would've kept it on all month if I could have.

    1. It is the prettiest mint shade out there, in my opinion. The formula isn't the greatest, but the colour makes up for it! x
