Unboxing: February Birchbox

As a fairly recent subscriber to Birchbox, I am so excited to be writing my first unboxing post! This box arrived today, and it's a good one, so I couldn't wait to share it on here. I love receiving a beauty box in the post, it's so nice to come home from work to a beautifully packaged selection of goodies, and really feels like getting a little present. Even if I've seen a spoiler online, the actual items you receive can vary, as do the colours Birchbox choose for you, so it always feels like an exciting surprise when I see what's inside my box.
This month's theme is We Love Your Style, as London Fashion Week is fast approaching. I didn't really see how the products had much to do with LFW, or style really, but that doesn't matter to me. Inside the box is a selection of cute little cards, with information and tips about using the products.

I was hoping to receive a Leighton Denny nail polish (full-sized!), as I knew others had, and was not disappointed. I got the shade Instant Abstract, a chunky black and silver glitter. Initially I wished that I'd got a non-glitter shade, such as the pretty grey Message in A Bottle that many other bloggers received, but having had a closer look, I am glad to have this one. It contains a mixture of sizes and shapes of glitter, and I don't actually have anything quite like it in my stash; the last thing I need is another grey. Plus, despite being a big Leighton Denny fan, I've never tried one of their glitters. This retails for £11, so is worth more than I paid for the box.

I also received an Eyeko Skinny Mini black liquid eyeliner. I've tried mascaras from this cult brand, but not their famous eyeliner, so I am excited to give it a try. Could this turn me back on to liquid liner, after years of devotion to gel?

The other products I received are all from brands I haven't heard of before. First up we have Gilchrist and Soames' London Collection Shower Gel. I like the look of this chic packaging, and am impressed by the generous 45ml sample. According to the card, the formula includes red tea, grape seed and milk thistle to hydrate skin. It smells nice and I am looking forward to trying it.

I was pleased to receive a hair oil, as I am trying to branch out and improve my hair care routine. Beauty Protector Protect and Oil is designed to protect against heat, UV and breakage, and is an exclusive launch for Birchbox, which is very exciting. I love being the first to try something. This smells delicious, and I cannot wait to try it.

Lastly, we have a little skincare treat in the form of a 20ml tube of Urbanveda Radiance Exfoliating Facial Polish. This contains turmeric and coriander, which sounds a little odd, but Indians have been using turmeric on their skin for years, so I reckon my grandmother would approve of this one. I'm always keen to try anything that promises to give me a radiant complexion, so I was happy to receive this.

Overall, I was really impressed with this box. It's great that it includes make-up, nail polish, skin care, haircare and a body wash - you can't ask for a more well-rounded selection that that. I also like that it's a mixture of well-loved brands, niche brands, and a new launch. This is basically everything I want in a beauty box. I should add that the lifestyle extra, a little bar of Green and Blacks, was the perfect finishing touch, but never made it into the pictures, because my friend and I ate it immediately. It had been a long day.

I am so excited for next month's Birchbox, and can't wait to see what they have in store for me next, particularly since they have partnered with Lulu Guinness for March. After her collaboration with Clinique for GOSH, I am expecting fabulous things!

Do you subscribe to Birchbox? What did you get this month? If you have done an unboxing post, do link to it in the comments, as I love reading them.

  1. I got the same products as you! My nail polish was just a black though, which I don't already have, so it's nice to add to the collection. I'm in love with the eyeko liner, and I really like the cute little quotes they included!

I found your blog through the beauty bloggers chat this evening, and I'm so glad I did, it's really lovely! xx

    1. Aw, thank you so much, it really means a lot!

I haven't tried the eyeliner yet, but really looking forward to it, I swatched it on my hand and it stayed there for ages, I couldn't get it off! Can't wait for the Lulu Guinness box next month.
